We’re excited to share the Fall 2025 lineup of CAID’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs)! These groups are designed to bring our community together for collaboration, support, and professional growth. Whether you’re new to the field or a seasoned educator, there’s a group for you.

Educational Interpreters SIG

The purpose of this SIG is to discuss the role of the Educational Interpreter and build a supportive network. We’ll explore how state, district, and school decisions affect classroom interpreting and share strategies to strengthen our profession.

  • First Meeting: October 1st at 7:00 PM EST
  • Ongoing Schedule: Meets every six weeks

Deaf+Autism SIG

In this group, we will explore best practices, bridge the fields of Deaf Education and Autism, and collaborate to support and advocate for the unique needs of Deaf and Autistic children. Any individual dedicated to this population is welcome to join.

  • First Meeting: October 7th at 7:00 PM EST
  • Ongoing Schedule: Meets monthly on the first Tuesday of each month

EARLY: Educators Advancing Readiness & Language in Young D/HH Students SIG

  • Ongoing Schedule: Meets monthly on the second Wednesday of each month

Deaf Education Faculty Forum

This forum is designed for higher education faculty in Deaf Education to come together as a professional community. Whether you want to share strategies, collaborate on research, discuss program development, or troubleshoot challenges, this is a space to connect with colleagues who understand your unique role. We’ll also celebrate successes and create opportunities for ongoing mentorship and innovation across institutions.

  • First Meeting: October 9th at 4:00 PM EST
  • Ongoing Schedule: Meets monthly on the second Thursday of each month

Itinerant Teachers SIG

When itinerant teachers come together, we create a space to ask questions, share resources, and offer support—whether you’re new to the profession or highly experienced. This group focuses on collaboration and practical solutions to everyday challenges.

  • First Meeting: October 14th at 7:00 PM EST
  • Ongoing Schedule: Meets monthly on the second Tuesday of each month
